Sick Days

We went to Plano Thursday morning and came back on Sunday morning. James had a fever Sunday night and Monday morning, it was 102ºF. It took 4-5 days for his fever to go away. We even went to the doctor’s office (I’m dreading the bill for that since we have to pay 100% and have a multi-thousand dollar deductible for each male in the family) and the doctor offered no hope other than: viral, wait it out. Sheesh. At least we ruled out strep throat… though if it were we could at least take something. This morning, Lowell’s fever is 101.5ºF. I don’t know what it is about travel that makes us all sick or why it is that we seem to catch something every time we visit Grandma and Grandpa but I was praying we would escape it this time. Guess not. The baby started coughing on Thursday, so I’m betting he gets a bad fever around Tuesday or Wednesday, if the trend follows suit.

The only thing worse than having all sick kids is having the oldest and most communicative jealous one get better and the whiney aged one (that can hardly talk to communicate his needs) sick around the same time. Life is becoming miserable. We are praying that the misery goes away quickly so we can get out of the house and enjoy this amazing weather we’ve been having and maybe, just maybe, celebrate the whiney aged one’s second birthday (which is tomorrow, but he’ll still be feverish and sick).

I’m also sick but that’s besides the point. Mommies don’t get sick days. We give up all hope of sick days the moment we have the baby.

UPDATE – SUNDAY MORNING and now Jen has a fever…
