Our First Find
Well, technically Grandpa’s first find. James wasn’t nearly as excited as I thought he would be. This is out on the same county road as my parents’ land. Lots of poison ivy kept us from getting the closest one, but since we visit often, we have plans to go back this winter after the “protective vegetation” drops its leaves.
I signed the logbook, Grandpa added a pin to the box, and we returned it to its hiding spot.
(I am signing my pictures now with a watermark so that I feel better about leaving them publicly viewable on my flickr photostream.) (EDITED TO ADD – Yay! I figured out the picture/text problems so now I can add text down there in between the pictures without it wrapping up around all kinds of things)
This (above) is poison ivy from the first cache-finding attempt. We decided since they live there, we’d just try this in the winter when the poison ivy is no longer a threat. Below, Grandpa is retrieving the cache from the second location. This one was clear of poison ivy. For now, at least, it was.

pretty pictures! and also–i am pretty sure there is some poison ivy in that top photo–so if you notice anyone itching w/a rash, that’s where it came from.
Yes, that top photo IS poison ivy. I actually took that picture on a different cache search which we gave up due to the poison ivy abundance. It’s EVERYWHERE down here and healthy at that.
