Four

Today is his daddy’s birthday (happy birthday Dave!) and I’m finally getting around to mentioning our oldest son’s birthday. I’m in a bit of a blogging slump lately if you haven’t noticed, so this is a wee bit late going up, but the J-man is four. Four. Years. Old. wow, where did the time go?
We celebrated with a trip to Great Wolf Lodge but no parties, not many (hardly any) presents (just the way we like it) with family. It was a fun weekend.
David is back working and the oldest and youngest are both sick. Mostly the youngest. Having a very very sick baby is so… worrisome! and tiring! Sleep is hard to come by. The past two nights have been hellacious. I was up doing “sick” laundry at 2:30 last night! So if this sounds fragmented, it’s because it is. I am. Fragmented.
The crown moulding project has kept us, well, entertained but it’s still not done (my fault entirely) as far as the joins being smoothed and repainted and the touch-up painting. OH THE TOUCH UP PAINTING… never ending! You see, I’ve got lots of redecorating up my sleeves (printing large photographs and framing them, mainly) for the future so I am pulling all the shelves off of the walls and patching up the holes and repainting over them as well as painting the caulking mess of the crown moulding at the same time. I am very much looking forward to getting a routine back after David’s short summer off. We always go from glee to boredom to utter frustration over the course of the summer and this year was no exception.
I’m absolutely anxious for the cooler weather to get the boys outside for more of the day. The homeschooling curriculum I’m interested in doesn’t start “school” formally until age 6 and the before age 6 curriculum is basically GET OUTSIDE for 4-6 hours a day and EXPLORE! EXPLORE! EXPLORE! It’s a lot deeper than that, really, but that’s the gist of it, and it’s good for them, too. It’s just so dang hot that I’m not comfortable spending more than about 10 minutes at a time out there. With that said, my goal this week is to walk around the block once each day with all 3 boys. Preferably early in the morning. I think we could all use the fresh air and sunlight.
No updates on the boys, really, other than being sick right now.
Hopefully I can get back into the swing of this blogging thing. I let it slide with the summer. Don’t worry, I’ll be back soon.
WELCOME
