menu-plan monday

I’m determined to turn this ship around because otherwise, we’re headed for a shipwreck, let me tell you.
Praise be to God that there is hope for us all.
Saturday was a bit of a bust, productivity-wise as I never, never ever feel like getting anything accomplished on a weekend when David is working. (I know, I need to work on that.) …and yesterday was a whirlwind of fun but ended with an event that changed the shape of this week. James bit another child in AWANA. James. Bit. Another. Child. Sweet silly James. BIT. I just cannot wrap my mind around this, yet I totally believe it at the same time. James is not the biter in the family. I know where he learned it (*coughLowellcough*) but he doesn’t bite back. I don’t know the details and neither does David as we were not present. David was fuming.
There are consequences. Yup. We are keeping James away from his friends (well, sort-of friends, the other kids from our semi-regular playgroup and small group) and he does not get to watch any TV (PBS) at all and no more video games. Needless to say there has been a lot more fighting between the brothers this morning, but there has also been a lot more playing.
With that out of the way, I present to you my menu-plan Monday. Yep, I made it on my iPhone. Have I mentioned the HomeRoutines app? Yeah, I think so. I use the day list to note our dinner plans for each night. Picture from the iSight…

MONDAY: Spaghetti with salad and breadsticks
TUESDAY: Hamburger Helper with Jell-O and peas (hey, don’t knock the helper; I can’t cook regular food, this is enough of a challenge for me as it is. I think I need an intervention).
WEDNESDAY: Dr Pepper Crockpot Ribs with salad and rolls and corn on the cob
THURSDAY: Tuna Helper (guess who’s cooking this night, too, heh)
FRIDAY: Burrito Skillet (could be a helper meal, should be a helper meal, but it’s from scratch, mostly)
SATURDAY: Medieval Chicken (Dave cooks the real meals)
SUNDAY: Baked Teriyaki Chicken (we substitute brown sugar for the white sugar). Yes, I realize that is 2 chickens in a row. Oh well.
So I still need to come up with sides for Thursday-Sunday. I’ll work on that…
