Today I decided to try to put Korben in his crib at some point. Wouldn’t you know? it worked! I had him in the wrap and he just kept sucking on his hands so I took him out and latched him on. He nursed into a deep sleep almost immediately so [...]
Every single day, I stress myself out about Korben’s nursing. Obviously, I don’t have to worry. He’s only 5 weeks old – look at those chubby legs! the double chin! I’m posting this here to remind myself to SERIOUSLY? Chill. Out. So what that he [out of the blue] only wants [...]
I know I’m starting late, and I know I might not succeed, but I have decided to do a variation of project 365 geared toward capturing pictures of Korben. I figure it will ensure that we have plenty of pictures of our third-born. James and Lowell will be in them, too, and perhaps even myself [...]
There are so many things I think about on a daily basis these days that I want to put some of them down here for a record.
For one, I am still not completely pain-free. My hips hurt a lot in the morning. The colder the morning, I’ve noticed, the more they hurt. I don’t [...]
They’re usually so rough with him; wanting to tackle him like they tackle each other. I’m sure that eventually, there will be much tackling and rough-housing but for now, the tenderness is so rare that I had to take some pictures.
Already? Yes.
Korben’s life at one month old:
he has learned how to nurse, and nurse, and nurse – oh my! he is at least three pounds over his birth weight he can sleep through a lot of noise he can cry like the best of them, but never deafeningly loud he loves to sleep [...]
We watched. I was nursing Korben but I managed to snap a picture of our morning one-handed somehow. This may, eventually, become an important picture, or an important memory for the boys, so I thought I would post it here. As always, click to enlarge.
We had Korben’s portraits taken today by Dawn, a professional who is also a mommy friend of mine through a playgroup. You know me, though. I couldn’t resist the fuzzy blue blanket and the sleeping baby and the call from my brother’s camera… so I got a few of him [...]
I have avoided blogging about Korben’s baby-ness for awhile because I have learned that as soon as you say “he’s a ______ baby” that things change and the labels you so joyfully place on the baby only serve to create disappointment later on. We are trying to take what we get with him on an [...]
My friend Julia has a baby scale. Just for grins, I weighed a clean cloth diaper, then put it on Korben and put Korben on the scale. After subtracting for the dipe, Korben weighs 11 pounds 2 ounces at 3 weeks old! Wow!
Here are a few pictures from tonight. It’s his first paci-night of his little life. We have been rather undecided about whether or not to start the habit that we know takes a lot for the little people to kick. James blessed us by giving up his pacifier extraordinarily easy before he turned 2 years [...]
Today, I drove all of us (minus David) to my hometown to visit my dentist. I have had a toothache for a few days now. It wasn’t much, probably just some food crammed up by my gums, but I also had a spot on my molar that needed to be smoothed over, so I got [...]
